Therapists I supervise with availability and experience working in eating disorders:
Jen Davies-Owen – Counselling, Coaching and Training
Hi, I’m Jen. I’m a counsellor, coach and trainer who specialises in eating disorders and disordered eating. My passion is supporting people in distress due to food, weight and body image issues to find freedom and self-acceptance.
I have worked in this area since 2014 when I began volunteering for a local eating disorder charity running support groups for individuals and their families and friends. As well as my private practice, I work part time as a researcher in higher education and guest lecture on topics related to eating disorders and mental health. I am a committee member on the Eating Disorders Therapists Networking Group (EDTNG) which helps me stay up to date with developments in this field.
I take a humanistic, integrative approach to therapy and coaching. This means I value our relationship and see therapy as a collaboration between us. I believe you deserve an effective service, so I use research to inform the way I practice but I also recognise every person is unique and deserves a personalised approach. I trust you to guide us as we find an approach that works for you. I engage in regular supervision, ongoing personal and professional development, and I am fully insured.
I am a registered member of the BACP and an accredited coach (EMCC). Some of the training which informs my practice is CBT-T, CBT-E, MANTRA and the National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCFED) Master Practitioner programme. I’m also a chartered psychological scientist from my PhD research into the psychology of eating behaviour.
Who do I work with?
I currently work with adults 18+. You do not need a diagnosed eating disorder to work with me. As a weight-inclusive practitioner, I will not make assumptions about your needs based on your BMI.
I offer a 20-minute free introductory call so you can ask me any questions you might have and see if I might be a good fit for you before we work together. Contact me via email, telephone or the contact form on my website for more information.
