Peer ComPASSION

Since April 2021, Jess has been co-facilitating a peer support group for people who have type 1 diabetes and eating disorders. This project has been launched in collaboration with Kimmeridge Court eating disorder service and the Diabetes team at Bournemouth hospital.

This group is part of the pilot project funded by NHS England to support people who have type 1 Diabetes and eating disorders, you can read more about it here:

As part of the ambition to increase support for people who have type 1 diabetes and eating disorders in Dorset, we have set up a peer support group where individuals with these difficulties can meet together on a virtual platform to support each other.

The group is facilitated by people who have lived experience of an eating disorder or an eating disorder and  Type 1 Diabetes.

It is an opportunity to share experiences, anxieties, strategies and support for one another. The overriding aim is to create a space where people who experience these difficulties can share and feel comfortable to communicate.

Whilst the group will have coordinators present, it will have a members focus and be shaped by all those who attend with the aim of providing mutual support.
